Helen Georgia
Nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains on the Chattahoochee River, this Northeast Georgia village has a rich history linked to the Cherokee Indians and Indian burial mounds as well as early settlers who arrived to mine for gold and cut virgin timber for a thriving lumber industry in the early 1900s. Helen is a re-creation of an alpine village complete with cobblestone alleys and old-world towers.

The Destination Adventure
Helen is one of the first places that Dee and I visited on the trike back in 2008. Helen is a place to go when time is short or when there is not a planned ride to do. Since Helen is only 80 miles from Norcross it makes for a nice 1/2 day round trip ride. The ride to Helen is a little interstate up to exit 24 on I-985 and then mostly 2 lane state highways the rest of the way. We like to leave early and stop at exit 4 on I-985 at the Buford, GA Golden Corral for the "Old Folks" breakfast.
